Postcard from Eternity

The Beat Angel rides again from the
end of the world saying don’t forget
to write as sounds so silent clang like
bells in the eternal emptiness as choirs
of angels chant all hail the conquering
hero for there is only one King who
wonders aloud of all these illusions and
things so far away that starry, starry
scene a mere Van Gogh dream last
night when we were young as the doors
of mind blew open if only for a moment
to reveal all the ragged glory hallelujah
his truth is marching on down the line
from the land of milk and honey
spiraling in the night sky reveling in its
light an epiphany that we all have soul
born of the divine like a prayer and it has
been a most sad and lonely time since my
brother split the scene now he remains on
a molecular level beyond comprehension
so let me offer this convocation of sadness
deep down in the marrow if not the cells of
my bones and it’s winter time too when the
bay turns a deeper shade of blue and passing
gulls blackbirds and all the assorted saints
these foolish things remind me of you angel
you free at last, free at last thank God almighty
and all that jazz and we shall overcome together
right now over me, in my kitchen and the
kingdom is at hand so until we meet again
keep keepin on and wish you were here
