Scenes from a Cosmic Epiphany

Long before stars fell over Alabama
the Star of Bethlehem torched up
the night sky for all but the Magi
otherwise known as the three wise
men to see who after asking directions
bearing gifts for the anointed one
caught a glimpse of an epiphany way
before Magdalene came along with assorted
spices to remind us that Love is a rose
with a stem full of thorns like a crown
fit for a sacrificial lamb sold for a
fistful of gold sure to draw blood
from even the most immaculate of hearts
meanwhile, the beat angel came home
again like the prodigal son all undone
on a busted camel after wandering in
search of the King of eternity of thee
I sing to those that have ears let them
hear of Maria offering seven graces
in exchange for her seven sorrows over
the suffering of the chosen one before
the stone was rolled away east to reveal
the rising of the Prince of Peace
