December Elegies (Volume I)

Calling the better angels to lift
up, up, up the hearts of the lost
and lonely refugees wherever they
may be down, down, down on main
further on up the road carrying a
heavy load the weight the cross that
every one bears the troubles of all
the seventh sorrow of motherless
children and brothers of other
mothers blessed be our fathers in
heaven or in between the meek, the
mild the misfits born to be wild
born to run who heed the call meanwhile…

Atlas has shrugged again, the world’s
gone wrong, another evil axis has grown
and left footprints in the morning dew
that could be coming for you and who
knows for whom the bell tolls if fate will
intercede for all who see the truth the
Kingdom is at hand right here right now
come whatever come what may be always
forever and whenever you are knocked
out down in the groove trampled under
foot begging for a hand up and where were
you when I was down standing there with
a grim smile back in the day of the forlorn
verily I sing this song a December elegy
