Immaculate Roses

Fields of flowers rising from ashes
and dust where smoky scenes sparkle
like diamonds and rust where I see her
face as if a trace of the White Madonna

Then the holy dove shuffles in to lift up
the hearts and souls of the true believers
to hear choirs of angels rejoicing in heaven
over their meeting under the arc of an arrow

If such a place there be under the heavens
unseen to the eyes of the faint hearted who
never win in love and war as fortune favors
the brave temporarily in exile meanwhile

Old whores never smile but remain in chains
of black hearted lovers lurking around cockles
and corners under cover in the marrow where
poison lingers as if shot from a broken arrow

Then suddenly the Cowboy Angel shows up
on the cosmic scene naming names from the
book of love and life and all else in between
to feed hungry hearts with Immaculate Roses
