In the land of our fathers
excellent birds echo over
mystic shores a siren call
from a real gone world
reminding us the quest
is a journey to freedom
Immortality belongs to the gods
whose love and happiness
depend on our obedience
while women gently weep
for lovers lost in battles over
distant seas where war cries
ring out peace is a rumor
From thundering skies
faces of ancients appear
brooding clouds dismissive
of our dreams and desires
withholding intervention
reckoning comes in a guise
of temptation, trials by fire
Oh, tribulations of the heart
trouble in mind, body and soul
til Dawn illuminates a path
between narrow straits
to heaven’s gate where
we find our home at last
