On the Beach

My country my heart
where the water is wide
summer sun coming down
gulls dissipate all along
the horizon yearning to
break through as if in
a tale from yesterday so
it seems, meanwhile back
on the beach girls, girls,
girls are everywhere seen
from behind veiled eyes
under skies so blue they
lift me up verily drifting
in a dream of you lost on
the sea of love as if a dove
seeking dry land after the
flood a sign of the times
if ever there was and what
will be que sera eternally
waves crashing breakers
separating you and me in
distant memories of being
born in time now forgotten
