conquered plains
of eternity freer
than before or so
it seems, meanwhile
something is lurking
on the outskirts of
town shadows shimmer
like ghosts or lost loves
one and the same or so
they say it’s all temporary
like you and me longing
for romance the second
time around another
chance to make amends
for things we did or said
