On the other side of a moment
of serenity we acknowledge the
one as if in a dream heeding the
teacher within below the surface
noise and confusion keeping us
at a safe distance from being too
real to be seen for who we really
are not the pretender in the mirror
looking back with scorn and derision
learned from loneliness and alienation
after being stranded in the wilderness
of love when all we ever needed was
in our hearts like hidden treasure or
manna from heaven sent to remind
us of the way up to higher ground
